Government-owned Vietnam Airlines is the flag carrier and largest domestic carrier in Vietnam, though it also operates a large number of international routes. The geography of the country makes it ripe for domestic flights, with important cities such as Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh City more than 1,100km apart. The airline has a hub in each of these two cities, and also serves Da Nang, Nha Trang, Da Lat, Ha Long, Hue, Phu Quoc and around 20 other domestic destinations. Internationally, Vietnam Airlines connects Vietnam with destinations including Sydney, Phnom Penh, Beijing, Shanghai, Paris, Munich, Delhi, Jakarta, Tokyo, Moscow, London, Seoul and Bangkok. There are also flights to San Francisco in the United States.

Vietnam Airlines is a member of the SkyTeam Alliance and operates more than 90 aircraft in total, of several different Boeing and Airbus models. As well as passenger services, Vietnam Airlines also provides cargo services.
