Porter Airlines connected, until recently, just the United States and eastern Canada, as the airline was limited by the range of its fleet of Canadian-built De Havilland Canada Dash 8 Q400s, designed for short haul travel. However, with the addition of 33 larger Embraer E195-E2 aircraft, the airline was able to expand its routes significantly. Whilst still limited to just the United States and Canada, it now operates flights to and from destinations including Toronto, Calgary, Vancouver, Winnipeg, Ottawa, Montreal, Quebec City and Saskatoon in Canada. In the US, destinations include Los Angeles, Phoenix, Miami, Chicago, Boston, Las Vegas, New York and San Francisco.

Established in 2006, Porter Airlines is headquartered in Toronto and mainly operates from its hub at Billy Bishop Toronto City Airport.

Porter Airlines is known for its PorterClassic service, which it describes as “elevated economy”. All economy class passengers enjoy benefits including complimentary wine and beer served in glassware, complimentary snacks and no middle seats, boosting comfort for passengers.
