Founded in 1967 as Southwest Air Lines, JTA has officially been known as Japan Transocean Air since 1993 but is more popularly known as JTA. This airline operates predominantly domestic services within Japan, and is a subsidiary of the national flag carrier, Japan Airlines. The airline is based at Japan’s sixth busiest airport, Naha in the country’s far south. Naha is located on the small island of Okinawa, and JTA has filled an important niche in connecting Okinawa with the rest of Japan. Destinations include Komatsu, Okayama, Osaka, Tokyo, Fukuoka, Kagoshima, Ishigaki, Kumejima, Kochi and Matsuyama.

JTA flights operate with just one cabin class, Economy and does not offer in-flight entertainment aside from an onboard magazine. The airline’s entire fleet is comprised of reliable and popular Boeing 737-800s.
