Headquartered in the Kazakh city of Almaty, FlyArystan is the country’s first low-cost airline and a subsidiary to the national flag carrier, Air Astana. The airline was founded in 2018 and commenced operations a year later. It is now the largest domestic airline in Kazakhstan, serving 14 Kazakh destinations including Astana, Symkent and Atyrau. It also provides services to destinations in other Central Asian countries, including Uzbekistan, Azerbaijan, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan, Turkey and Georgia. There are also connections to India and China.

FlyArystan’s 16 aircraft are predominantly Airbus A320-200 models, with a handful of Airbus A320neo aircraft also in service. Expansion plans include the purchase of several Boeing 737 MAX 8s, an aircraft which has been plagued by safety problems including two fatal crashes in 2018 - (Lion Air Flight 610) and 2019 (Ethiopian Airlines Flight 302), which resulted in the deaths of 346 people. The entire worldwide fleet of Boeing 737 MAX 8s was grounded for almost two years whilst fixes were made.
