Eastar Jet is a low-cost South Korean airline, which was founded in 2007. It made its maiden flight two years later, travelling from Gimpo International Airport in Seoul to Jeju International Airport. Although it operates internationally, it has seen huge growth in its domestic routes, with important destinations including Busan, Cheongju, Jeju and Gunsan. Internationally, Eastar Jet serves regional destinations including Siem Reap, Shanghai, Hong Kong, Tokyo, Macau, Singapore, Taipei, Bangkok and Hanoi. Eastar Jet is a member of the U-Fly Alliance of low-cost Far Eastern airlines. In 2020, a merger between Eastar Jet and fellow budget Korean airline, Jeju Air, collapsed as a result of the crash in revenue caused by the COVID-19 pandemic.

The airline has a fleet of 14 aircraft, with the majority being Boeing 737-800 models. It had four of the troubled Boeing 737 MAX 8 aircraft on order, with delivery recently being restarted after a recall following several high-profile safety incidents.
