Billed as the world’s “first premium leisure airline”, BeOnd is a relatively new airline, attempting to break the monopoly on flights to the Maldives by large, international airlines. Founded in 2022, it is headquartered in Dubai and backed by an Emirati investment firm and a Maldivian hospitality company known as SIMDI Group. The airline has big plans, but currently manages just a single Airbus A319-100 aircraft, decked out in the airline’s modern black livery. Operations started in late 2023, and the airline currently connects the Maldivian capital of Male via limited flights to Munich, Milan, Riyadh, Zurich and Dubai. A new planned connection with Bangkok billed for July 2024 was cancelled.

Future plans include the acquisition of additional aircraft, including several Airbus A321LR and A321XLR models. BeOnd is aiming to connect the Maldives to additional destinations in Europe, Asia and Australia, with more than 50 destinations served by 30 aircraft the ambition of the business for the next few years.
