In 2004, the French national flag carrier, Air France and the Dutch flag carrier KLM Royal Dutch Airlines, merged, forming Air France-KLM. By revenue, this is the fifth largest airline in the world. However, both Air France and KLM continue to operate separately, overseen by Air France-KLM. Headquartered at Paris’ Charles de Gaulle Airport and with hubs at Lyon, Marseille, Nice, Paris-Orly and Toulouse, Air France remains the French national carrier. It operates a subsidiary, Air France Hop, which connects domestic and regional European destinations.

Founded in 1919, flight operations commenced in 1933 and Air France quickly became a leading presence in the aviation market. Alongside British Airways, it was one of just two airlines in the world to operate flights on the legendary Concorde aircraft. Today, Air France connects 30 domestic destinations (mostly through Air France Hop) and more than 200 international destinations in more than 90 countries across Europe, North America, Asia, Africa and Oceania.
